August 28th, 2010 Goldsboro Our eighth and final event of the 2010 SRTT was held in Goldsboro. The River was 4.2 with a moderate stain on the East Shore to clearing on the West Shore. We had one of the blue bird skies with comfortable conditions. Twenty three boats set the field this week. All I can say...it was another tough bite. The team of Rupp & Prinz sealed the deal with a nice bag pushing the scales to 16.10 lbs. They also had our 1st place lunker with a very nice smallmouth at 4.36 lbs. 2nd place went to the the team of Payne & Payne with 15.78 lbs. Third place went to the team of Schulkins & Schulkins with a respectable 14.44 lbs. Our 2nd place lunker went to the team of Falloney & Dougherty with solid 4.16 All in all, we weighed in 58 Bass totaling 164.7 lbs. This gives us an average of 2.84 lbs. The end of the trail also establishes our 2010 Championship Team. Congratulations Mick & Terry Schulkins. They had an outstanding year leading the Trail from wire to wire. They always seemed to be in the top week after week, location after location. Also, truly one the classiest teams you'll meet. The end of the season also gives me the opportunity to thank many that make the trail function and perform at the level that has gained us a very respectable reputation. John has been an incredible help this year. Mick is always there early to make sure the check-in/weigh-in goes well. I couldn't have done this with out them. I also want to thank Freddie, Matt & Don for all their help. I know others helped by running fish or just helped get things set up or torn down. I am going to take this time to formally make the announcement that I am resigning as President of the SRTT. I again want to thank those who helped me through all these years. Next up, the 2010 SRTT Bass Classic. Please click on the link on the Home Page. August 14th, 2010 City Island Our seventh event of the 2010 season took place in the Capital City of Harrisburg. Water level was 3.4 and had a light stain. Weather was cloudy with a high of about 83. Twenty-six boats set the field this week and after heavy rain that hit on Thursday, the river had come up a bit. The bite was also better than what we saw a few weeks ago in Goldsboro. For the second tournament in a row and for the 4th time this year, the team of Sterner & Bowman lead the way with an impressive 17.30 on the scale. Second place went to the team of Brown & Washinger with 16.92. Third place went to the team of Halfpenny & Young with 16.20. This will be a "5" fish, 15 inch tournament as we will be out of "Big Bass" waters. March 13, 2010 City Island Our spring kick-off event was held at Harrisburg City Island. The weather was downright awful. We had wind, rain & cool temperatures. The beautiful weather of just a few days earlier were history. The river was about 6.6 and stained and was rising all day. 31 teams braved the conditions with about half the field connecting on an 18" + Smallmouth. Today we had a few unique ties. One of which was "1st place". 13.08 was winning weight, with the team of Greene & McDonel and the team of Schulkins & Schulkins both posting. That is simply incredible. Please make your way in to the parking lot, check your boat and get it in the river. I do not like boats and trailers lined along the highway.
August 29, 2009 Goldsboro Our final stop of the 2009 SRTT Circuit found us back in Goldsboro. 32 teams set the field under cloudy and sometimes drenching skies. August 8, 2009 Goldsboro Our seventh stop on the 09 SRTT was held at Goldsboro. We had 33 boats competing. The river was again at 4.4 and was fairly clean on the West Shore and fairly dirty on the East Shore. Pulling off an impressive showing was the team of Russ & Blouch posting 17.44 on the scales. (Good fishing for a team that had a one of the members about to be a Dad any minute). Our second place team with a real solid bag was Pottieger & Pool with 16.92. July 11, 2009 Shikellamy State Park Our 5th stop on the circuit found us in Sunbury where we were met some very tough fishing. The weights were down. The big bags that can come from this pool of water were not existent. (At the levels that we know exist) The field was 35 boats. Weather was cloudy to partly sunny with a strong wind coming on in the afternoon. And I do mean strong. The team of Blaner & Bishop produced our best bag pushing the scales to 13.92 pounds. Second place went to the team of Dauberman & Laudenslager with 13.90. They also provided our lunker fish with a 4.24 lb. 2 one-thousandths is all that separated #1 from #2. I think that equals some of those crayfish parts that we find in the bottom of the livewells. Third place went to the team of Rupp & Prinz with a solid sack of 13.76 lbs. OUr second place lunker went to the team of Faloney & Dougherty with the only other 4-pounder weighed at 4.12 Totals for the day: 141 smallmouth with a combined weight of 309.38 lbs. That is an average of 2.19 lbs Congratulations to everyone for the shape that the fish were in. We had no stressed or dead fish. By my observation, all the fish were in excellent condition. June 20, 2009 City Island The Capital City of Harrisburg set the backdrop for a really WET day on the trail. One thing is for sure, if you were dry by weigh-in time, you have good rain gear. I'd like to thank everyone for the orderly fashion in which we operated. From getting over to the steps and getting lined up, to how we all came in to the weigh-in. The Fish Commission was on hand and I did not see anyone receive any embarrassment. We had 39 boats for the tournament. Shortly after blast off we were met with a storm rolling through. Multiple times that day we faced gusty winds and lots of rain. The team of Sanno & Fry pulled a repeat and claimed first place with impressive sack of 15.72 lbs. They were followed by the team of Strohecker & Werntz with 15.16 lbs. They also provided our lunker of the day with the only four pounder, at 4.08. April 11, 2009 Goldsboro Goldsboro set the stage for the 3rd points event of the 2009 season. The weather was downright awful with a steady cold rain followed by gusty winds out of the North. Speaking for myself, I can say it was one of those days that make you cold to the bone. The field was 41 boats. This was our last event that had a 8:00 AM start. We wanted to give this a try this year and the feed-back that I received was positive. We set our weigh-in for 4:00 PM. Leading the way was the team of Sanno & Fry with yet another SRTT record for a 3 fish event. 13.44 lbs of Smallmouth Bass! They had our 1st place lunker with a fine 4.84. Our second place lunker came from the team of Troxell & Hoover with a nice "Largemouth" pushing the scale to 4.66 lbs. Overall we weighed in a total of 58 bass (18" rule), weighing 224.42 lbs which is a 3.87 average. Lots of Four-Pounders at this one. This spring has been a memorable one with 2 new SRTT records, great turnouts with some new faces and the return of some old teams. The Trail now goes on "Spring Break" returning in June with another shot at the fish out of City Island. If you haven't fished an event with us yet, what are you waiting for? Ferryboat Campground The third scheduled event was cancelled due to high winds. The make-up points date is April 11th out of Goldsboro. March 28, 2009 Shikellamy State Park The second event of the 2009 Trail found us in Shikellamy State Park (Sunbury). We had another great turnout with 49 boats setting the field. Weather conditions were cloudy and cool with a high temp in the 50's. Water levels continue to be low for Spring conditions. This area is not in Big Bass regulations so the limit was 5 fish, 15" minimum. The team of Greenawalt & Gesford brought 5 awesome fish to the scales that broke the 21 pound barrier! This will now be the new SRTT record with 21.02 posted. Congratulations guys. All in all, we weighed in 77 Smallmouth Bass for a combined weight of 285.74 pounds! That's an average of 3.71 pounds. This also bests last years tournament by both weight & numbers. Leading the pack was the team of Evans & Foster with a fantastic bag at 12.46 lbs. They had our lunker of the day with a 4.72 lbs. Second place went to the team of Rupp & Prinz with 12.12 lbs They were followed by the team of Greene & McDonnel for 12 pounds even. With the river levels around 3.5 feet (a little low for this time of the year) 40 boats took off under clear skies. The fishing was good for some and a little tough for others with the 15” minimum length. We had 17 boats bring in a limit of 5 bass. There were 125 bass brought to the scales that totaled 324.6 pounds with an average weight of 2.60 pounds. And rounding out the top five with a weight of 13.90 pounds was the team of Gesford and Greenawalt. On a side note, I got some complaints after the tournament regarding the start of the tournament. For the blast off, it is imperative that everybody gets in order and in this case gets in the circle before the starting point. If everybody gets in a line there will be no confusion as to what boat needs to go next. Also, as many of you had witnessed, the PA Fish Commission was at the ramp at weigh in time, please be sure to follow all laws regarding wakes, and make sure that you have all required equipment on your boats so that no fines are issued, and make sure that your fish meet the minimum length requirements. As it was, we didn't’t have any short fish brought to the scales and I applaud you for that. We are still looking for sponsors for the tournament trail, if anyone knows of any businesses that would be willing to sponsor a tournament or the trail have them contact Bill Wurster at (717) 975-6482 for further information. The next tournament is scheduled for July 5th at Sunbury (Shikellamy State Park). Get there early so we can get a good blast off at safe light. April 5, 2008 Montgomery's FerryOur last spring event took the "trail" to Montgomery's Ferry. We had about 7.5 on the gauge in Harrisburg and the river was certainly muddy as you went from the West to East shores. We had 46 boats that had lots of water to work with. Boats went North, South and up the Juniata. The fish brought to the scales this spring have been unbelievable. You can read the first post of tournament news from March 25th, 2006 and read the results. The comparison is this, 2 years ago, 12 fish were brought to the scales. This year 82 fish were weighed in with a combined weight of 293.74 pounds! That works out to a 3.58 average. March 22, 2008 Shikellamy State Park, SunburyMother Nature won this event. The river rose and the park closed due to flooding. We’ll give it another shot on April 5th. The trail will head to Montgomery’s Ferry for our last spring event of the 2008 season
March 15, 2008 City Island, HarrisburgOur kick-off to the 2008 SRTT season found us in the Capital City of Harrisburg where 40 teams set the field. The weather was simply beautiful for mid-March. I lost track of how many 4 pounders were weighed for lunker. Speaking for most, it was a great day out on the water
September 22 & 23, 2007 Sunbury & GoldsboroThe SRTT “Bass Classic” event officially marks the end of the 2007 Tournament Trail. Susquehanna Fishing Tackle sponsored the event. Thanks guys for being a part of the SRTT. This tournament is one of the best of the year. Providing competition in two areas with combined weight of both locations. Day One- Sunbury: The day met us with clear skies and temps in the 60’s. The water was clear & low… imagine that. The teams set out on both the North & West branches and weigh-in was set for 2:30. The weights brought to the scales were absolutely amazing. We had 5 teams post over 17 pounds! Leading the way was the team of the team of Whiteman & Whiteman with 17.96 lbs. Story of the day became…big fish. 7 teams over 16lbs, 2 of them over 18 pounds, wow. Making a huge charge from a first day weight of 13.82, the team of Maurer & Scott pushed the scales to 18.70 lbs. Congratulations to our Champions, Schulkin’s & Schulkin’s with a whopping weight, setting a new SRTT record with 34.62 lbs. The team of Rupp & Prinz followed them with 33.46 capturing second place. Our third place team was Russ & Bridy with 33.22 lbs. The amazing thing is that the team of Rupp & Prinz had set the previous SRTT record last year with 31.00 even. This year we had 7 teams blow away that weight, posting over 32 pounds and up! Truly amazing. When you crunch the numbers, the winning weight has a 3.46 lb average. That is it for “Tournament News” for the 2007 SRTT season. Please join us again next year for an even bigger & better SRTT Tournament Trail!September 9, 2007 Goldsboro28 teams competed in the last “points” event of the 2007 season. Bass Pro Shops sponsored the event. Thanks guys for being a part of the SRTT. The tournament had some really nice bags brought to the scales. It also was an event that was going to produce the SRTT Team Champions for 2007. The “points” chase was tied at the start of the day. One team would come through with the winning weight. That team proved to be Dave Russ & Don Bridy. They weighed in a nice limit posting 17.84 on the scales. Our second place team, Mick & Terry Schulkins gave us all a thrill as we watched intently as the scales topped out at 17.46. Point Four is all that separated these two outstanding teams from 1st & 2nd. That is pretty cool. Our third place team was Fred Greenawalt & Bill Gouba with 16.50. Big fish honors went to the team of Schulkins & Schulkins with a 3.96. That was followed right behind by Russ & Bridy with a 3.94. Pretty ironic. Congratulations to our Champions, Dave Russ & Don Bridy and also to Mick & Terry Schulkins for providing the closest competition that has ever gone down for the SRTT Championship. The next event is our Tournament of Champions. Susquehanna Fishing Tackle will be our sponsor. If you would like to fish this event, the Board of Directors has decided to allow any team that was a member of the SRTT for 2007 to be eligible. This tournament is 100% payout. It is a CASH entrance fee. Please pay at the ramp check-in on day one. The entrance fee is $150 and an optional pool will be available. Boat check will start at 5:00AM. We will start the tournament at safe light. September 2, 2007 Bass Classic - City Island 70 teams competed for top honors of the 2007 Bass Classic held by Capital City Bassmasters in conjunction with the SRTT. This special tournament was held to benefit the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and for the 3rd consecutive year provided over $10,000 to this organization. The event was top notch with a host of Corporate sponsors and some spectacular work by the Capital City Bassmasters. Every team walked away with a prize, a shirt and some memories. The water was extra skinny and put a lot of stress on running anywhere but in the pool. The weather was downright beautiful was sunny skies and low humidity. There was a bit of fog as you progressed up-river. Weather and conditions aside, the team of Schulkin's & Schulkin's produced an awesome sack coming to the scales with 19.00 lbs. WOW! They were followed by the team of Blaylock & Adams with a solid limit at 16.80 Rounding out our top three was the team of McDonel & Cicero with 15.90 lbs. Lunker of the day went to the team of Sipe & Williams with a hog of a fish breaking the five pound barrier at 5.10 lbs. Our second place lunker was also weighed in by the team of Blaylock & Adams with a 4.80 smallie. The last "points" event is Sunday, September 9th out of Goldsboro. This tournament will name our 2007 Points Champions. It is being sponsored by Bass Pro Shops. If you would like to compete, come and join us. Remember, all SRTT regular season tournaments are open. You do not need to be a member to fish. Applications must be received by Thursday the 6th to draw for position. August 11, 2007 40 Boats competed in our last stop in Sunbury of the 2007 Tournament Trail. Fish size was down and many teams struggled to break 10 pounds. As always, we have as few teams that figure it out. Topping them was the team of Rupp & Prinz who captured first place with a nice limit of 14.54 lbs. They were followed by what is becoming a very familiar name in this recap of Russ & Bridy. They brought in a limit weighing 13.52 lbs. Third place went to the team of McKain & Stoner with 12.88 lbs. Big Fish honors went to the team of the team of Brown & Washinger with a 3.92. Our second place lunker went to the team of Adrian & King with a 3.80. The next event is Sunday, September 2nd out of City Island. This is the Bass Classic and the application is different. Please download the application from the tab on the front page. Please follow the instructions, as the send to address is different. July 29, 2007 37 Boats set the field for one tough day to compete in the Bass Pro Shops Tournament in Goldsboro. Five limits out of 74 fisherman gives you an idea as to the conditions of the day. The team of Potteiger & Poole made it happen to capture first place with a solid limit weighing 16.68 lbs. They also had our second place lunker with a 3.96 lbs. smallie. 2nd place went to the team of Russ & Bridy with 16.28 lbs. Rounding out our top three was the team of Blaylock & Adams with 15.86 lbs. Our first place lunker was brought to the scales by the team of McNabb & Nuse with a solid 4-pounder tipping the scales at 4.62 lbs. All in all we weighed in 57 fish with a total weight of 174.82 lbs. This gives us an average of 3.07 lbs. The next event is Saturday August the 11th in Sunbury. July 8, 2007 17 Boats showed up on a very hot and sunny day to compete in Goldsboro. The team of Eshelman & Sellers had a nice bag beating the field by 1 pound with 15.46 lbs. Included in that bag was our second place lunker at 3.70 lbs. They were followed by the team of Bridy & Russ with 14.46 lbs. They also had a 4.44 smallie to claim 1st place lunker. Rounding out the top three was the team of Gesford & Greenawalt with 14.24 lbs. This was an open event held in Goldsboro. This event has no implication of the point’s standings for the 2007 SRTT Circuit. July 7, 2007 Welcome to City Island! We had a turn out of 38 boats for our 4th circuit event of the season. We are now officially halfway in the 2007 Trail. Conditions were typical of early July, hot weather and low water. One thing that stood out as not typical was the amount of fish brought in to the scales. Old records have shown this time of the year to be one of the toughest we face to get limits brought to the scales. Not this year. 15 teams managed a five fish limit with a 15” minimum. The team of Russ & Bridy had an excellent bag with a weight of 15.26 lbs. to capture first place. The team of Maurer followed them & Scott with a total of 14.64 lbs. Third place went to the team of Schulkin’s & Schulkin’s with 14.54 lbs. First place Lunker fish for the day was 3.90 lbs. by the team of Bishop & Holden. Second place lunker was 3.82 from the team of Comp & Waughtel. This is the first event of the year that did not yield a 4-pounder. All in all, we had a total weigh in of 107 fish with a weight of 282.54 lbs. The standings are very close and the top teams are within just a few points of each other. Remember, we count your top seven events for the Final Standings. Next event up is July 29th out of Goldsboro. This event is being sponsored by Bass Pro Shops. This is one of two events that Bass Pro Shops will sponsor this year. Thanks guys! June 23,2007 Our third circuit event found the SRTT at Shikellamy State Park, Sunbury. Robbins Marine sponsored the event and provided us the ability to pay three extra spots, pad two spots and pay a third lunker. That’s great! Weather was actually very comfortable. No humidity, 78 degrees, clear skies. River conditions were low and clear. Maybe a little too low for some. I heard of a few boats leaving some aluminum on the rocks. The team of Gesford & Greenawalt blew away the field by almost two pounds with 15.16 lbs. In that limit came our second place lunker with a 4.20 smallie. They were followed with a tie for second place by the teams of Schulkins & Schulkins and Whiteman & Whiteman with 13.20 lbs. The Whiteman’s bagged the first place lunker with a 4.36 smallmouth. 4th place went to the team of Strawhecker & Tibbens with 12.82 lbs. Next event is July 7th, City Island, Harrisburg. Lakeside Marine is our sponsor and it should be interesting. April 7,2007 Our second circuit event found in the quaint town of Millersburg. What a nice event this was. Hats off to the people that put the work into making this special. That was a great team that checked boats, helped get your boat into the water, parked your car, and made all that great food. The weather was anything but special. It was cold, windy & at times, snowy. 36 teams braved these conditions and some made some very long runs. It took its effect on the competitors, but not on the fish. We had more four-pounders weighed in than I can remember. For having a 3 fish, eighteen-inch minimum, this tournament had 10 limits brought to the scales. That’s impressive. The team of Tibbens and Strohecker led the way with 11.94 lbs. They captured second lunker in that limit with a nice 4.46 smallie. Second place went to the team of Johnston & Marshall. They had 11.56 lbs. With our first place lunker fish at 4.48 lbs. Rounding out the top three was the team of Rosenberry & Bitner with 11.40 lbs. The Bicentennial Class also had 29 teams participate. I’m sorry I don’t have their records to post but I do know the team of Sheaffer & Reich placed 1st and had over twelve pounds. We now take a break and hopefully when we get started again, I wont need my insulated clothes. The next tournament will be in Sunbury on June 23rd. This is going to a great tournament. Robbins Marine is hosting our first sponsored event of the year. I expect a strong turnout. April 1, 2007 Our first circuit event was held on Sunday, April 1st out of Shikellamy State Park, Sunbury. 52 boats set the field under gray skies with intermittent showers. The river was running high and fast. The West Branch had a nice color going, the North was its typical self, brown. Weigh-in was set for 2:30. One thing is for sure; the fishery in the Sunbury area is alive & well. The team of Magargle & Magargle came in to the scales with an awesome bag to capture first place. They set a new SRTT record with our first posting of over 20 pounds. Official weight for their five fish was 20.14 lbs. That included the first place lunker fish of 5.02 lbs! Second place went to the team of Stoner & McKain with an excellent bag of 18.40 lbs. They also had second lunker with a 4.70 lb smallie. Rounding out the top three is the team of Russ & Bridy who also had a great day with five fish and 17.04 lbs. As is always the case, some teams struggled under the conditions and did not catch limits. As the saying goes, sometimes you win, some times you don’t. Our next event is Saturday April 7th out of the Millersburg Community Launch. This should be a fantastic tournament. Tournament of Champions September 23 & 24
Sunbury The top 25 teams from the Points Championship met for day one at Sunbury. The weather threatened rain, but other than a few showers before blast-off, held off. Teams made their decisions & set out to work both Branches of the River. The North Branch was a little off color, and the West was it's typical self, gin clear. Weigh-in was 3:00 due to a later start with the cloud cover. Teams came to the scales, some with limits, some not. One thing was certain; some incredible fish were caught this day. The team of Homick & Straw led the way with a new SRTT one-day total weight of 18.82 lbs. That bag included a monster at 4.72 pounds. They were followed by the team of Blaylock & Adams with 16.58 lbs. Showers & Wert completed the top three on day one with a 16.54 lbs. All in all, some fantastic bags were brought in, but as always is the case, not everyone had a stellar day. When all was said & done, only half the field managed a limit. The stage was set for day two in Goldsboro. September 24, 2006 Goldsboro Sunday Morning met us with fairly clear skies and no fog! We got a good blast-off but changed the weigh-in time back to 2:30 since the weatherman promised us thunderstorms for the afternoon. We had off & on light showers throughout the day, but overall, not bad. The water had a good color and about a 4.0 depth out of Harrisburg. The unique attributes that mark the T.O.C. came in to play. Two totally different sections of the River, playing out to different strategies. The team of Rupp & Prinz came through with the bag of the day putting up a solid 16.30 lbs. Two teams produced the same 2 nd place weight of the day with identical 15.00 lbs. The team of Faloney & Dougherty had a great day, posting their top weight of the year. The team of Wurster & Wurster also had their year's best weight. Wurster's also had big fish honors of the day with the only Four-Pounder of day two, 4.14 lbs. When the totals were calculated, one team bested them all. The team of Rupp & Prinz had posted 31.00 lbs. This stands as the highest two-day total in the history of the Tournament of Champions. (If you put this into perspective, that is a 3.1 lb average.) The team of Homick & Straw held on to 2nd place with a 2-day total of 30.16 lbs. Third place was the team of McDonel & Russ with 29.66 lbs. Fourth Place, the team of Wurster & Wurster with 29.48 lbs. And rounding out the top five was the team of Blaylock & Adams with 29.18 lbs. I want to thank all the participants that make this circuit what it is, the most competitive local tournament trail around. The promise for next year is: Bigger & Better. Secondly, I would like to thank all that give their time and efforts to make this trail successful. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes and at the day of the event. I'm sure to miss some but thanks to Mick, John, Herb & Freddie. I know some others gave their hand when needed; Chris, Terry, Dave & Barry. (Sorry if I missed someone.) Lastly, We had some great sponsors again this year. The Polaris Group donated a ton of time and effort to keep this website up and functional. Susquehanna Tackle for their continued support of the SRTT and tournament fishing. Bass Pro Shops for stepping up to the plate and getting involved. Lakeside Marine, another long time supporter. Quality Digital Office Technology for their time, facility and monetary support ( Special Thanks to Teddi - getting the applications processed .) If you know of someone needing the services of any of these sponsors, please send them that way. Or better yet, let them know that we appreciate them. Keep your eyes on the website as new info will be announced for the 2007 Circuit. See you on the River! September 9, 2006 Goldsboro 32 Teams showed up to compete in the last SRTT Points Tournament of the year, which was sponsored by Bass Pro Shops. The fog was the story of the morning as we had a delay in blasting off. We decided that when we could see the Island out from the ramp, we would give it a go. Needless to say, the fog on the other side of the Island was much thicker. This provided for some anxious moments for some, (me included), as we tried to navigate our way across and up the river. Personally, it took my partner and I about 30 minutes just to get past Pilots Rock. So much for drawing boat 3! The bite was fairly good for a change as many limits were brought to the scales. The team of Showers & Showers lead the way with 15.36 lbs. They also captured 2 nd lunker with a 3.68 lbs. 2nd place went to the team of Rupp & Prinz as they came to the scales with 15.22 lbs. 3rd place went to the team of Greenawalt & Gouba and a total weight of 14.64 lbs. Lunker of the day went to the team of Shope & Bertolette with the only four-pounder of the day with a 4.06 Smallmouth. As most of you know, the Points Championship was going to come down to this event. We had three teams all with the exact same total at the start of the tournament. The team of Blaylock & Adams came through with a solid bag of 14.08 lbs. They are the 2006 SRTT Points Champions!!! I think the format we ran with for the 2006 Circuit provided for a tight race and some excellent competition. The culminating event of the 2006 season comes down to the Tournament of Champions, September 23rd & 24th , which is being hosted by Susquehanna Fishing Tackle. We are going to launch on day one out of Shikellamy State Park unless you hear otherwise. Keep your eye on the website for the most current info rmation. Remember, this is a cash entry paid the morning of the tournament. With the end of the season right around the corner, the work for next year must begin. If anyone has an interest in being involved, please e-mail me. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, e-mail me. You will see all of our sponsor's logos on the home page of the web-site. Please support our sponsors! See you on the River! September 3, 2006 City Island - Harrisburg 71 Teams turned out to battle some ugly water thanks to some guy named "Ernesto". A week ago the Susquehanna was crystal clear with a low flow. What a difference one week can make. The water started out around 6.3 at the start of the tournament and by weigh-in time it was about 7.8 and rising. The water height was not the problem, it was the mud. Many teams struggled with the conditions. Only 7 teams weighed in a limit. (10% of the field.) However, as always is the case, we had some nice bags brought to the scales. The team of John Blaner & John Young took top honors with 14.96 lbs. John Young stated he picked the wrong fish to be checked for lunker, the one he chose weighed 3.70, he thinks he had one around 4 lbs. They were followed close behind the team of Bob Blough and Max McAllister with 14.28. They had second place lunker also which came in at 4.06 lbs. Third place went to the team of Harry Wert and Eric Showers. They weighed in 13.72 lbs. First place lunker went to the team of Adam & Bob Urich, with a 4.10 lbs. With the conditions, a fair number of large fish were brought to the scales with many over 3 pounds. Totals for the event were 92 fish, at a total weight of 247.9 lbs. Another piece of the news is that a check was presented to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society for $10,000 . Capital City Bassmasters deserves a plug also for putting on a nice event with a picnic, a great payout and many prizes for teams finishing "out of the money." Next tournament is September 9th, out of Goldsboro and is sponsored by Bass Pro Shops. As you can see by the tournament standings, the Points Championship is going to come down to the last event of the year. I expect a real shoot-out. The long range river forecast shows that we are going to have plenty of water. This event will also provide the final standings for the Tournament of Champions, September 23 rd & 24 th , which is being hosted by Susquehanna Fishing Tackle. With the end of the season right around the corner, the work for next year must begin. If anyone has an interest in being involved, please e-mail me. I will be announcing a board meeting following the Goldsboro Tournament. You will see all of our sponsor's logos on the home page of the web-site. Please support our sponsors! See you on the River! August 20, 2006 Williamsport 32 Teams competed against the ultra clear waters of the West Branch for what accounted for the smallest weights of the Trail so far this year. The team of Betz & Shenk took home the honors with a five fish limit and 10.66 lbs. Although they didn't have a "kicker," they managed a solid bag. Second place went to the team of McGargle & Shipton with 10.44 lbs. They also had second lunker with a 3.24 lbs. Third place went to the team of Rosenberry & Bitner with 9.76 lbs. First place lunker went to the team of Phillips & Probst with a nice Smallmouth weighing 3.98 lbs. You will see all of our sponsor's logos on the home page of the web site. Please support our sponsors! Next tournament is September 3rd, out of City Island, Harrisburg. This is the Leukemia Society Benefit Tournament . This tournament is going to have a fantastic payout! Please download the proper application and send it in to the address listed. See you on the River! August 5, 2006 Sunbury 42 Boats turned out to face-off under blue skies and a light breeze. Thankfully the ridiculously hot temperatures that were around all week long had broke in time for our tournament. The team of Maurer & Scott produced an awesome bag of fish coming in first place with a weight of 16.78lbs. They also secured the 1 st place Lunker with a 4.12lbs Smallmouth. 2 nd place went to the team of Hauser & Smith with 5 Fish and a weight of 16.58lbs. 3 rd place was captured by the team of Buehler & Wilson with a weight of 15.30lbs. 2 nd place lunker went to the team of Fish & Rang with a 4.04lbs. The race for the Points Championship is really heating up. Remember, we only count your best 7 events. When you calculate the numbers, it is going to come down to the wire. The Tournament of Champions sponsored by Susquehanna Tackle is scheduled for the 23 rd & 24 th of September & will be open to the top 25 qualifying teams. It should be a fantastic tournament. We combine the weights of day one in Sunbury, and day two in Goldsboro . You will see all of our sponsor's logos on the home page of the web-site. Please support our sponsors! Next tournament is August 20 th , in Williamsport (Linden Access - Antlers). If anyone would like to sponsor any of the events, please e-mail me. See you on the River! July 22, 2006 Goldsboro Another great turnout put the field at 40 boats. The weather-man had predicted some heavy thunderstorms but you know un-predictable the weather can be.kind of like how the fish are going to bite on a given day. The weather held off, but the fish, ( the size that counts ), also held off for another day. The bite was tough with only 8 limits brought to the scales. Showing the field that it could be done, the team of Halfpenny & Young led the way with 14.18 lbs. They were followed close behind by the team of Greenawalt & Gouba with a bag at 13.68 lbs. Third place went to the team of Payne & Payne with 12.86 lbs. Who said that lightning can't strike twice? Lunker honors went to the team of Russ & McDonnel with two hogs. #1 tipped the scales at 3.92 lbs. & #2 at 3.82 lbs. I think that is a first for the SRTT. Both lunkers going to the same team, way to go guys. I would like to thank Bass Pro Shops for sponsoring this event. The gift cards are very much appreciated. They have also agreed to sponsor the September 9 th Tournament which is right back in Goldsboro . You will see all of our sponsor's logos on the home page of the web-site. Please support our sponsors! Next tournament is August 5 th , in Sunbury. This is the last date in Sunbury until the Tournament of Champions. If anyone would like to sponsor any of the events, please e-mail me. See you on the River! June 24, 2006 Shikellamy State Park Sunbury41 Boats set the field for the 1 st of the summer series. Check-in started with a lot of rain, but as luck would have it, it stopped just in time for blast-off. The heavy rains we had received had little effect on the water conditions throughout the day. With only a mud line setting up next to the bank. (I can only speak of the West Branch, as that was where I had gone.) Honors of the day went to the team of Schulkins & Schulkins blowing away the field with 13.80lbs. They also took big fish with a 4.26 lbs. 2 nd place went to the team of Prowant & Grey with 12.18 lbs. Followed by Knepp & Krepps with 11.92. 2 nd place "lunker" came in at 4.22 lbs. by the team of Homick & Straw. Total payout for this event was $3,550 plus another $900 in the optional pool. Next Tournament is being held in Goldsboro July 22 nd . This tournament is being sponsored by Bass Pro Shops. As a reminder, a few rules that keep our events orderly and professional. Our card system is the best way for us to monitor who has arrived on time. Weigh-in time is 2:30 unless stated otherwise. We have a system in which your boat number card must be in the box by 2:30 or the team is assessed a 1 pound penalty per minute for up to 5 minutes. After 5 minutes are up, the team will be DQ'd. (50 Points will still be awarded if the team turns in the card). Secondly, Weigh Bags. We intentionally only allow for up to 6 bags to be dispersed at one time. We really care for the resource and it makes no sense to take fish out of an aerated live well to wait in a long line for the weigh. In the future, we will only weigh fish brought to the scales in a SRTT weigh-bag. We really appreciate the participation that we have been receiving.
I feel we have some of the best anglers competing and look forward to
growing these events in the future. Next event - Goldsboro , July 22nd
. Get your applications in early. April 8th 2006 Shikellamy State Park Sunbury Would someone tell old man winter it is April!!! We had sleet/snow and a cold north wind all day. 38 Teams set the field for what turned out to be a "big fish" day. The team of Gerald Adrian & Pete Hanford came in with a sack that weighed 17.90 lbs to grab first place. They were followed close behind by another nice bag from the team of Jim Buehler & Brett Wilson at 17.74 lbs for second place. Third place was the team of Jason Shipton & Randy Gordner with a total weight of 17.46 lbs. Less than a half of a pound separated the top three teams with all having tremendous weights. Lunker went to the team of Matt Schmitt & Jesse Stoner with "toad" of 4.88 lbs. Ironically, that is the exact weight that took lunker at Montgomery 's Ferry two weeks ago. All-in-all, we weighed in a total of 134 fish with a total weight of 390.32 lbs. That is an average of over 2.9 lbs. I know some did not weigh-in due to the fact that they did not have enough weight to place. If they would have, we surely would have busted the 3 pound average! We now go in to "spring break". The next event is right back in Sunbury on June 24 th . We are looking for sponsors for this event. Anyone interested, please contact me through the web-site email. Most of the summer events are sponsored and we appreciate those who have stepped up to the plate. Thanks to all that have come out so far, hope you have enjoyed the tournaments.
The SRTT continues to encourage the 'Best" competition to test their
skills against some of the "Best" the River has to offer. March 25th 2006 Montgomery 's Ferry Kick-off Tournament of the 2006 SRTT . We had 27 teams facing unseasonably low water for the spring of the year add water temperature that was only 38 degrees at blast-off, ( It had been in the 50's two weeks ago!), throw in the eighteen inch rule and you have the makings for some tough conditions. We did have a total of 12 fish weighed in. Top honors went to the team of John Rupp & Charles Prinz with two fish & a total weight of 8.54 lbs. They also had lunker with a 4.88 lb. "pig". Second place went to the team of Mike Cree & Barry Potteiger with 6.52lbs. 3 rd place went to the team of Dave Baker & Greg Cole with 6.46lbs. Most teams caught fish despite the conditions. The next tournament is on April the 8 th out of Shikellamy State Park (Sunbury). For any team that missed the first event, we are counting your best seven tournaments towards the Points Championship so you are still right in the hunt. Remember, the top 25 teams will advance to a special "Tournament of Champions" to be held September 23 rd & 24 th
